The VI Peel® is the well-known peel for when you’re ready to get serious about your skin. We will also be honest with you from the start: this one peels, and the week is part of how it works.
What it is
A VI Peel is a professional, medium-depth chemical peel done in the clinic by a provider. It helps exfoliate damaged-looking outer layers of skin, encourages fresh cell turnover, and over the days after treatment, the damaged outermost skin begins to shed so fresher-looking skin can come through.
This VI chemical peel is a blend rather than a single acid. It uses multiple powerful ingredients in professionally formulated blends, including exfoliating acids with a retinoid and vitamin C, put together to help the layer lift evenly.
A medium-depth peel reaches the whole outer layer of skin and a little of the layer below. That is why it asks more of your week and can do more than a light peel.
The peeling is not the treatment going wrong. The old layer is meant to come away, and that is what makes room for the fresher skin underneath.
Your provider may choose between formulations such as VI Peel Precision Plus and VI Peel Body at your appointment, depending on your skin concerns and where we are treating. It is not only for the face; it can also be used on the neck, hands, chest and back.
VI Peel treatments can help improve the appearance of pigmentation, acne, acne scarring, dark spots and discoloration, sun damage, melasma, fine lines, uneven tone and texture, dullness and visible signs of aging.
This peel can be used on active acne.
What happens
A skin analysis is offered, not required. You can book the VI Peel directly, but if you have been putting it off because you are nervous about peeling, that conversation can help.
Take the guesswork out of skincare. It is just time to talk about your skin, what you want corrected, and whether this is the right next step.
The VI Peel appointment is 30 minutes. The solution goes on in layers and, generally, a peel like this is timed rather than left to sit.
You may feel a mild sting that dissipates after about 30 seconds as the peel is being applied. Peels at this depth are not usually numbed.
Some spas hand you a fan to hold over your face during a peel. We do not do that, because holding a fan over the face can evaporate the chemical and diminish your results.
Prices
The cost for a VI Peel is $420 per treatment. That price is the same wherever you visit us.

You can pay per treatment. If you want a membership route, Loft Reserve has a six-month minimum, and it includes one specialty skin treatment a month with the VI Peel among those choices.
Prepaid packages are another way to plan ahead. Cherry monthly plans with 0% APR options and CareCredit are also options across our clinics. See payment plans

Day by day
01
Your skin may feel tight, dry or slightly darker. Most people do not peel on the day of the appointment, so those first couple of days can feel quieter than expected.
02
This is usually when the peeling really starts. The shedding typically becomes more noticeable after treatment, and this is the part to plan your week around.
03
The peeling begins to settle down. Everyone’s skin is different, so the amount and timing of peeling can vary.
About a week of downtime is the honest way to think about this treatment. Peeling a little is not a sign the peel did less.
The usual advice after a peel of this depth is daily sunscreen and letting the skin come away on its own rather than pulling at it. Workouts, saunas and swimming are generally skipped early on, and makeup is usually back once the shedding has finished.
There is a reason we take the sun part seriously. Skin treated with exfoliating acids is typically more sun-sensitive during this early window.

Candidates
A VI Peel is for someone who wants correction rather than just a glow, and who is willing to give the treatment its week.
For new clients, we recommend starting with a light chemical peel, because there is almost no downtime with those.
If scarring and texture are the larger concern, we may also talk with you about Microchanneling. If what you really want is steady glow maintenance with lighter exfoliation, Facials may make more sense.
The usual things a provider asks about before a peel of this depth are pregnancy or nursing, recent use of isotretinoin or Accutane, whether you get cold sores, and any allergy to aspirin, because salicylic acid is a relative of it. See the FAQ
In deeper skin tones, temporary darkening is one thing a provider watches for after a medium-depth peel, which is why the choice is made for the skin in front of us; for more on how we think about matching technology to skin tone, see How the laser is matched to your skin tone.
The course
For the VI Peel, we usually talk about a series of 4 to 6 treatments, about a month apart, adjusted to the goal. Pigment, acne marks and texture often need consistency, not one heroic appointment, and results show once the skin has finished settling, not on the treatment day.
Which peel
Depth is different: a light peel works on the outer layer of the skin, while the VI Peel is medium-depth and reaches a little below it.
The week is different: a light peel has almost no downtime, with a little pinkness at first and a little tightness, while the VI Peel comes with a peeling week.
The price is different.
Depth is what decides both the correction and the downtime. That is why starting lighter can matter before jumping into the stronger peel week. Light Chemical Peels
Why here
We do not treat the VI Peel as something pulled from a shelf. We choose between formulations such as VI Peel Precision Plus and VI Peel Body based on the concern and the area we are treating.
We know body peeling raises different questions than a face-only peel, especially for deeper skin tones. We use VI Peel Body on body areas and on deeper skin tones, which is the question people usually come in with.
We treat the shedding days as part of the plan, not a surprise after you have booked. We describe what the peeling week can look like before the appointment so you can choose timing that works for your life.

FAQ
ask us anything
In the first couple of days, your skin may feel dry, tight or a little darker. Peeling usually becomes more noticeable around days 3 to 5, then begins calming down around days 6 to 7. Everyone’s skin is different, so the amount and timing can vary. Peeling less does not automatically mean the peel did less.
Plan on about a week. Redness typically comes first, flaking follows, and a little residual pinkness after the peeling settles is usual. Our usual advice is not to squeeze this peel in right before something important.
A corrective course is often 4 to 6 treatments, about a month apart. Your provider can adjust that based on what you are trying to improve, and after that, many people move into lighter maintenance.
In general, recent isotretinoin use, often known by the brand name Accutane, is a standard reason a peel of this depth is deferred, usually for about six months. Your provider will ask about this before treatment. Do not stop or start a medication. Bring it up, and we will talk through the timing with you.
The peeling week is real, and the downtime runs about a week. Days 3 to 5 are usually when peeling starts in earnest, the application can come with a mild sting for about 30 seconds, and a corrective plan often means 4 to 6 treatments about a month apart. Temporary redness, dryness, sensitivity and itching can happen. Skin can look a little darker or lighter for a while, cold sores can be triggered in someone who gets them, and less commonly, infection or a lasting mark can happen, especially when healing skin gets too much sun or is picked.
It can be worth it when the goal is a complexion that looks fresher, brighter, smoother and more even, and when you are ready for the week of peeling and the likely series. The honest answer depends on your skin. That is exactly why the skin analysis exists.
A light chemical peel stays more surface-level, so the downtime is much easier. You may be a little pink or tight at first. The VI Peel is medium-depth, so it asks more of your week. We usually recommend new clients start light, then decide whether the VI Peel makes sense next.
