At our Denton clinic, before any injectable, Laser Loft requires a $33 good-faith exam by an advanced medical practitioner over video through SpaKinect. It is valid for one year. Sculptra is a prescription treatment and is given by a trained, licensed provider.
Your health history matters, especially with a treatment that works through your own collagen response. Your provider gives the medical side of the appointment its own place before treatment begins.

The Sculptra appointment is booked for 75 minutes. Numbing is typically included: commonly a numbing agent on the skin, with an anesthetic often mixed into the product itself.
Massage is typically included too, so the product is spread evenly as the person treating you works the area.
Any fullness right after a session is typically the fluid the product is mixed with, and it usually settles within a few hours to a few days. Most people see the original contour come back first, then gradual change builds from there.

It is one of our favorite treatments for patients who want natural-looking, progressive rejuvenation. The change is subtle, sophisticated, and built slowly enough that it can still feel completely like you.
Sculptra is not the right fit if you want visible volume at the appointment. If that is what you are hoping for, Dermal Filler may make more sense.
There are also real medical reasons we slow down and evaluate first. People with a known allergy to the product are not candidates, and that is one of the things your provider checks. It is typically not used for people who form keloids or thick raised scars.
