What it is
Wrinkle relaxers temporarily relax specific muscles behind repeated facial movement by interrupting the signal from the nerve to the muscle. When that signal is quieted, the muscle relaxes while the product is active, helping expression lines soften for a smoother, refreshed version of you.
You may also hear these treatments called a neuromodulator, a neurotoxin, or anti-wrinkle injections.

Two named areas
A Lip Flip uses a small amount of product in the muscle around the mouth so a little more of the upper lip shows. It changes the shape of the lip rather than adding volume. At Laser Loft, a Lip Flip uses up to 10 units. It is bookable across our clinics.
The masseter is the muscle along the jaw, and it is one of the places a neurotoxin can be placed. At Laser Loft, we treat the jawline and masseter for jaw slimming and clenching. The number of units and whether it suits you are decided at the consultation.
Underarm sweating
Excess underarm sweating can be frustrating when it keeps pulling your attention away from your day. At Laser Loft, we use Botox injections to treat hyperhidrosis in the underarm area, with the goal of reducing excess sweating.

Your injectables consultation at Laser Loft is free, 60 minutes, and available at Denver, Loveland and Denton. You can choose your provider.
At our Denton clinic, before any injectable, an advanced medical practitioner reviews your health over video through SpaKinect. The good-faith exam is $33, and it is valid for one year. It is there to confirm overall health and candidacy before treatment.

The Letybo appointment is 45 minutes; the Jeuveau/Letybo and Lip Flip appointments are 30 minutes. It is a short in-office appointment, and you go home the same day.
The appointment is quick, and we still do not rush you. We want you to understand what is being placed, where it is going, what it costs, and what to expect before anything starts.

This can be a good fit if expression lines are bothering you, or if you are trying to stay ahead of deeper expression lines before they settle in more. Injectables don’t have to mean changing your face. The goal is to help you look refreshed, rested, balanced and completely yourself.
Typically, a wrinkle relaxer works on the lines your expressions make. Lines that are still there when your face is at rest are usually a filler question, and we will talk with you honestly about that instead of pretending one product does every job. Candidacy is settled at your consultation, before treatment. Typically, anyone with a neuromuscular condition, a drooping eyelid or weak facial muscles needs that on the table before treatment, which is part of what your provider asks about.
Afterwards
Minimal downtime is one of the reasons people like wrinkle relaxers. Most people go back to their day straight afterwards.
With Jeuveau, results can start to show in 2 to 3 days, take 2 to 4 weeks to fully settle, and last up to 4 months.
That is why first appointments are often planned about a month before an event. You want time for the product to settle, and you want time to see how you like the result.
The usual advice is to leave the area alone rather than rub or massage it for the rest of the day, and to skip a hard workout.

Botox and wrinkle relaxers wear off, and with Jeuveau the effect may last up to 4 months. As it wears off, the muscle gradually goes back to moving the way it did before and the lines come back. Results are not immediate. Most side effects are small and short-lived, including some redness, swelling or bruising where the needle went in, and sometimes a mild headache. Uncommonly, a nearby muscle is affected and a brow or eyelid sits lower for a while, which also wears off.
No, 40 is not automatically too late to start Botox. Whether you are softening existing lines or staying ahead of deeper expression lines, this can still be a reasonable conversation to have.
